The world of esports has recently welcomed a new champion to its fold … and he hails from Quebec. Vincent Fortin, 15, from Rivière-de-Loup, won an impressive $75,000 US when he competed in the prestigious Fortnite All Stars Tournament, which took place during the last weekend of June.

Who is the Fortnite All Stars Tournament champion?

“I have always been good at Fortnite, and I have always wanted to compete in a Fortnite tournament for the past two years. The Fortnite All Stars Tournament is the biggest and best known competition around. And this was my very first time competing, and no one expected me to win,” he said during a recent phone interview.

The tournament, which is organized by Epic Games, the company that created Fortnite, gathered some of the biggest names in esports, such as Fazed Centered, Faze Dubs and NRG clix, all of whom were  vanquished by Fortin, thanks to his extraordinary skills and knowledge of the game.

As a result of his maiden tournament victory, Fortin was signed up to join Team 33, which is regarded by Fandom as the eighth best Fortnite team in North America. Fortin’s association with Team 33 means that he will train with the team and represent them in future tournaments, as well as share with his fans the latest news and esports developments on social media.

“Team 33 is like a great family. They will support me to the very end and help give me the confidence that I need when I compete,” he said.

On July 13, Fortin participated in his first tournament as a member of Team 33, but the results were not as favourable as he wished. “Unfortunately, we lost the tournament. We played well at the beginning, but didn’t play our best as it concluded. However, the team maintained a place on the leader board throughout the competition,” he said.
